What is a reinforcement?
A positive reinforcer can be anything your dog likes enough to change the behavior and make the dog excited to do the wanted behavior over and over again….
Think of it kind of like this…how I feel when I see a snicker bar.
The principle of positive reinforcement can be used to great advantage in dealing with dogs.
It’s simple: Immediately reward appropriate behavior reward inappropriate behavior.
Psychologists call it THE LAW OF EFFECT; If a behavior is followed by a positive association that behavior will increase in frequency.
Example: Your dog Xena comes when called followed with a treat and praise. Always choose a reward that excites the dog.
Pick something special only used during training or for a reward.
